Of the 30 inhabitants of the small island of Arki, Kristos is the last child. The youngest in a line of shepherds, Kristos finishes primary school to enter secondary school on the island of Patmos, but his father has to accept that he is not a shepherd, like his brothers and fathers before him.
In her previous films, filmmaker Giulia Amati has developed a particular sensitivity to the tragedy of exiles in Palestine and Ethiopia. In Kristos, le dernier enfant, she sets out to portray an archaic society and a child at the turning point of his life. Suspended between his patriarchal family and his future, Kristos' silences, like his smiles and tears, are those of a childhood on the move.
