Description
Following the Orthodox chant workshop held in Quimper from 15 to 21 August 2026,
IGOR MYKHAILEVSKY will present a series of three concerts in Finistère from 19 to 21 August in Beg-Meil, Pont Croix and Moëlan-sur-mer
with the NEW CHOIR and the TRAINEE CHOIR, and in particular at the chapel in Beg-Meil
The programme will feature Orthodox liturgical chants, Karamanov’s *Stabat Mater*, and folk and traditional songs drawn from the finest examples of Ukrainian culture and that of other Slavic peoples.
The result of Igor Mykhailevsky’s extraordinary creative passion, the New Choir, founded in October 2022, brings together, under the guidance of its prestigious founder, a new generation of vocal talents, some of whom were trained during international workshops under his direction. The choir’s musical character and style differ significantly from many others. The New Choir has already given around twenty concerts, the widespread acclaim for which confirms the exceptional standard of its repertoire of ‘sacred and traditional songs’ by Ukrainian composers. Like the Crimean Choir, the New Choir aims to use music and song to spread a message inviting people from all walks of life to embrace peace, friendship and mutual goodwill. The artists who make up the choir sing and travel to share this enthusiasm. The concert is performed a cappella and is sometimes accompanied by musical instruments.
