Description
Night of the Stars, in partnership with the Loar Gann association (amateur astronomers of Cornwall)
An evening of discovering the constellations
Telescope viewing
The viewing will begin at nightfall:
- around 9 pm with the setting of the Moon, observed through binoculars and telescopes, and the appearance of the first stars and constellations: Among these are the ‘three beautiful summer stars’: Vega in Lyra, Deneb in Cygnus, and Altair in Aquila.
- Around 10.00 pm, we’ll turn our attention eastwards to observe Saturn and its moon Titan, then we’ll enjoy exploring the ‘deep sky’: the Milky Way, nebulae, galaxies and star clusters. These include, amongst others, the Hercules Cluster, the Lyra Nebula and the Andromeda Galaxy. The observation session is also an opportunity to discuss the nature of celestial bodies and astronomical phenomena …
