Vibrant jazz, world music, classical, folk and traditional Breton music: an inspired programme to get you moving, dancing and savouring beautiful summer evenings.* *These concerts are scheduled to take place outdoors (in the sites’ parks). Alternative arrangements will be put in place in the event of bad weather. Cristine Merienne “Davet ar Bed” – a 100% Finistère-style harp and vocals solo A 100% Finistère-style “harp and vocals” solo Fest noz, storms, gwerz, cliffs, forests, work songs, faces… Cristine Merienne takes us on a journey through her Finistère through song and music. Cristine Merienne, also known as ‘Griffin’, is both a researcher and an activist in the fields of the harp, singing and writing. She is trained in music and theatre, and holds a Master’s degree in modern literature. After winning an award for excellence in Celtic harp, she was discovered by Hervé Le Meur of the Keltia Musique label. She began her career at a very young age in the 1990s and, as part of the Duo Sedrenn, made her own contribution to the Celtic music scene, before turning her hand to songwriting at the turn of the 2000s. In 2004, she received a Sacem award for ‘Les chaussures’, followed by three albums of songs, as well as productions supported by institutions and venues such as the Théâtre de l’Archipel (29), the Pôle Sud cultural centre (35), Très-tôt-Théâtre... Her unique approach to the harp makes her a modern ‘bard’, conveying simple yet profound lyrics set to haunting melodies. In ‘Davet ar Bed’, she presents us, through the Celtic harp and her voice, with faces, forests, cliffs and undertows. She pays tribute to artists from the Breton music scene of the 1970s, and we rediscover the land, the sea air and a fiercely Finistère spirit. We hear the language, languages, a voice. Book online.
