Description
Madie Bergson Theatre Company | Faustine Noguès
Two performances: Thursday 18 February at 8.30 pm and Friday 19 February at 3.00 pm
Faustine Noguès comes from a family of Spanish Republicans who were victims of Franco’s repression. As she seeks to explore their history, she comes up against a troubling phenomenon: a persistent amnesia prevents her from retaining any information whatsoever relating to this past. She therefore embarks on an investigation into the history of memory within Spanish society and discovers a national history which, too, struggles to emerge from silence and oblivion.
Blending humour, fantasy and political awareness, Faustine Noguès (whose *Les Essentielles* we hosted in November 2024) embarks on a personal and collective quest: to recover a lost memory and to question the universal necessity of passing on memory.
Through an immersive sound experience (binaural sound), she draws us into her research and allows us to hear the voices of those who have been forgotten.
